I just realized today that 20 weeks = HALFWAY THERE. What a trip!
To be honest this week has been a little rough with Julian coming down with a cough and cold making him extra grumpy on top of his normal independent-do what i want-toddler ways. Put that next to my zero patience pregnancy temperament and it’s a fun time. Let’s just say our experience at my 20 week midwife apt this week was a shit show. Literally, it started off with him pooping right as we got into the room and stunk the whole place up and it was just downhill from there. I’m just thankful I’ve been able to schedule out the next few appointments for when our babysitter can be here so I don’t have to put us through that again.
So I’m just going to jump right in and focus on child #2 for a few.
How far along? 20 weeks. Halfway to the birth (hopefully)!
Total weight gain/loss? Apparently I lost a pound from my last appointment but I am pretty sure it’s cuz I had sandals on this time vs sneakers. Feeling pretty large and in charge though. 139 lbs down from 140.
Left: 22 weeks pregnant with Julian. Right: 20 weeks pregnant with Baby #2
I guess I was about as big last time around at this point even though I feel like I am way bigger this time around.
Maternity Clothes? If I can wear yoga pants and stretchy shirts, which most of the day I can, I’m still in my regular clothes. But if I need to put on real clothes they gotta be maternity these days. I’m waiting on an order to come in from Zulily with a couple shirts and a pair of jeans.
A few weeks ago I had a wardrobe malfunction where I was rushing to get out of the house, went to pull on a pair of jeans that I wore only a week before and there was no way they were going to work. I scrambled to find my one pair of mat jeans from when I was pregnant with Julian and they were no where to be found. Of course! Cue the pregnancy frustration and rage.
Stretch marks? Still nothing thankfully but definitely feeling an itchy belly the past month, which is when my belly’s gotten the biggest. I’m coconut oiling it up and trying to take better care to moisturize every day because I’m pretty sure that’s what helped me a lot last time.
Sleep? Better at night for the most part and I’ve finally caved to my pregnancy pillow most of the time at night. Napping a lot less during the day now that my energy is back! Weirdly I slept so soundly last night and when I woke up I realized I was more than half on my belly most of the night. Oops. I felt fine and wasn’t sore or anything which is good. Just a little guilty.
Best moment? Gender reveal for Jeff.
Miss anything? Beer. So many fall beers out right now that are going to pass me by this year! I’m missing red wine too these days. And raw oysters. Turkey sandwiches.
I’m totally back on the caffeine train since about 3-4 weeks ago. I held out a good 3-4 months but I decided I just love it so much and I’m really just a better person once I’ve had a little caffeine jolt in the mornings ;-). I try to do half decaf, half regular in the morning now so it’s not SO much of a jolt but I don’t know why I bother. Its fine to have a cup or two a day and I never go beyond that anyways.
Movement? Yes! Mostly at night when I am laying still. It probably happened around the 17.5-18 week mark for real which is about when I started feeling it with Julian, too. I’m not feeling a whole lot of movement at this point but the midwife assured me it was OK. Plus the baby was kicking and flipping around like crazy at our anatomy scan (and that was without any coffee!) so I think I’ll have another active kicker on my hands.
Craving? Sweets, sweets, sweets. Namely baked goods. The other week I made a cake, brownies and cookies all in one week. The brownies went to my grandfather’s for his birthday but everything else was all for me.
Anything making you sick or queasy? Not really? I think I get heartburn if I eat something heavy on the garlic or onions but the nausea is for the most part, thankfully, behind me.
Labor signs? Nope.
Bellybutton status? Flat, non existent. Bye bye.
Wedding ring status? On.
Looking forward to? Now that our summer of house projects is behind us I guess I am looking forward to turning what’s currently an office into the new baby’s room.
I’m also looking forward to getting back to the gym and hopefully finding a personal trainer to whip my post baby body into shape next spring. No idea why I’m thinking that far ahead but there it is. I’ve been doing yoga and walking a few times a week this pregnancy. Could I be doing a lot more? Probably, but I’m lazy and I’m kind of letting myself embrace it. However I’m finding myself missing those intense workouts and working toward fitness goals. I’m also kinda longing to have my body fully back to myself which I know is selfish. But its crazy to think I’ve been either pregnant or nursing or pregnant since February 2015 with the exception of 1 month!
So there it is, my halfway there 20 week update!
I hope you have a great weekend!
